Social skill training (SST) is used to help ADHD sufferers manage their symptoms in social situations and to give them the tools for successful social interaction. SST is a form of behavior therapy that takes place in groups or on a one-on-one basis. The therapist will also discuss verbal and nonverbal communication.

When someone with ADHD goes for SST the therapist will assess the patient’s social skills and identify the areas that need improvement. The therapist will target one area of social interaction at a time – providing education and training to improve social skills.
